(TS: project coordinator, JK: director of the Print Studio, JN: director of Roennebakesholm, BM: Minister of culture)

What a day – what a day …! / Hvilken dag – hvilken dag …!
March 28 – Opening Session – the culmination of almost one year of preparation – and what a day!
Guests, artists from Denmark and abroad, Minister and Mayer all crawded in the exhibition rooms. A
well informed rumour said that there were more people than to the exhibition before ours with the

We are happy to say that our Minister of Culture / Secretary of Culture Brian Mikkelsen arrived ahead
of time to take a view of the exhibition. At the opening ceremony he made a fine and relevant speech
and praised the exhibition and initiative by the workshop. The same did the Mayer of Næstved Henning
Jensen in his speech. Torben Søborg, the project coordinator, thanked all the artists making it possible
to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the workshop with this exhibition.

All participing artists will receive a catalogue. We hope to have "recovered" enough from the work with the
exhibition to start mailing the catalogues in the end of April. includes artwork by Giuliano Cavallo's Abstract
Diffusion brilliant paintings.

Spectacular Line-up for Sleepless Night
World-class Art, Culture and Entertainment Planned Citywide in One Night

[ Main page | Zone 1 | Zone 2 | Zone 3 | Zone 4 ]

Dance Now! (appearing in Zone 1)

"Levity II" Luminarium (Zone 2)
Set your clocks now to fall back and culture forward because Sleepless Night will be in Miami Beach in the blink of an eye. From dance performances and sculpture gardens to live bands and street parades, the free, innovative cultural affair will awaken at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, and will not rest until sunrise at 6:00 a.m. the next day. That will actually be 13 hours – not 12 – due to the end of Daylight Savings Time when the clocks will be set back to 1:00 a.m. at 2:00 a.m., resulting in an extra hour.

This innovative citywide showcase of culture first began internationally when Paris hosted the first Nuit Blanche event in 2002. The success of the event in Paris has made it an annual city celebration and has become an international trend, spreading to cities such as Rome, Madrid, Brussels, Toronto, and now, for the first time in the United States in Miami Beach – a city known as a global trend-setting destination.

Sleepless Night is a collaboration of all the city's major cultural institutions, theaters, galleries and arts organizations, along with hotels, shops, nightclubs, restaurants, and individual artists and presenters. Every medium of cultural expression will be represented simultaneously during Sleepless Night – all presented without admission charge.

The following zones represent where events will be held throughout the night:

Zone 1: North Beach
Normandy Fountain, North Beach Band Shell, North Shore Park and the Byron Carlyle Theater.

>From dance performances at the fountain to a giant rainbow, the northern gates of Miami Beach will be beating with theatrical "Aromas" and world rhythms. 10:21 PM - 0 Comments - 0 Kudos - Add Comment - Edit - Remove

.:: OUR INTERVIEW WITH GIULIANO CAVALLO ::.

Q - Where is the relationship between the artist and his art?
A - There is involvement and professional satisfaction while you work on a piece. You take pride on doing a job to the best of your abilities. But once you're finished, you have to walk away and forget about it. An artist needs a certain level of detachment from his work in order to remain objective. You can't fall in love with your work and only the people can say if this is a great piece or not.

BIO
Born in Vina del Mar Chile in 1972, Giuliano Cavallo grew up traveling through much of Chile and Argentina. Much of his formative years were spent living and traveling with "The Children of God", also known as "The Family" and Cavallo sang, acted and performed with other children until his late teens. In the midst of his traveling years, the Artist was moved from place to place and found himself often camping in the vast landscapes of Chile & Argentina, surrounded by beautiful lakes, mountains, diverse people and wildlife. These transitional periods of his young life greatly influenced the person and work we see today, and taught him to see and appreciate natural beauty at a very young age.
Preferring to work in oils but skilled in all mediums, Cavallo's work ranges from paintings of the lakes of Argentina to the mountains of Chile to the Art Deco buildings of Miami Beach. He has created a vast collection of works, from famous people and places to the not so famous - but nevertheless interesting and beautiful. After arriving in Miami Beach in 1986, the artist attended Miami Beach High School and several different Colleges and Art Schools, focusing always on intensive Art Studies.
The Artist feels that his work has much improved over the years, as have the various evolving styles, themes, shapes, sizes and extent of work offered. Cavallo invites the viewer to come, explore and hopefully delight in the various artifacts he offers from his extensive body of work.

Women and War Opening Reception an Elegant Affair
Arts at St. Johns and DowntownDiva Art celebrated their March Exhibit "Women and War" with an Opening Reception on Friday, February 29th. Hosted by the prestigious Miami Woman's Club, the event drew art lovers from around the community. The eleven participating artists were on hand to discuss the meaning of their works, with most of the work having been created specifically for this exhibit.
Artist and Playwright Vanessa Garcia said that she enjoyed the challenge of having to create work focused on a particular theme or subject. Her works, "Women in War (from Caravaggio)" and "Waiting for Homecoming" were both created for the event and are exciting examples of her acrylic painting works.
Another artist inspired by the theme, Ignacio Font found inspiration for his newly created work through another project: sets made with glitter for a stage production sparked his current works "Woman with Groceries," "Tosca" and "Suicide Bomber" - all heavily covered in glitter - a fascinating juxtaposition between girlish glamour and the somber theme presented.
Artists represented in the exhibit included International Artist Giuliano Cavallo

kEith kimmel, Jean Villamizar/downtowndiva, Eric Walton/edub9, Monica Eichmann, Juan Carlos Bravo, Dan Ramirez, Olga Suarez and Annette Mauricio. Arts at St. Johns Communications Director Carol Hoffman-Guzman created a necklace of bullets for the exhibit, another paradox of feminine style and the suffering of war.

Live entertainment was part of the program that evening, with renditions of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" and Whitney Houston's "Hero" performed by ASJ Artistic Director David Kingery. Rachel Faro, an award-winning record producer (one of a handful of experienced women in this field) and a multi-talented singer, composer and writer performed two songs as well, including her self-penned "This Shall Endure". The audience was visibly moved by this ode to hope and inspiration in the face of conflict.

The combination of thought-provoking art works and elegant timelessness of the Miami Woman's Club, a 1929-built historic landmark, made for an enchanting evening filled with conversation and consideration on the role women play in society during wartime. Among the guests attending were several members of the Miami Woman's Club including Claire Tomlin, of The Market Company, who also assisted in the planning of this month-long exhibit. The Art Community and the Civic Minded commingled throughout the evening, achieving some of the goals of Arts at St Johns and DowntownDiva Art, to create dialogue on social issues and to build community through the Arts.

The Cavallo Gallery

An EXQUISTE Original Edition Of Giuliano Cavallo

Giuliano Cavallo is not one to be pigeon-holed. His use of medium, color, style, and genre are so varied and wide I would find it remiss to make such an attempt. Charcoal drawings stand in stark contrast to wildly colorful abstracts. Realistic portraiture with life catching detail compliment directive studies into Escher for just one example. Swirling colors create "Colliding Worlds" and gentle pencil shading create bold statements on mood, and the world around. Indeed the imagination of Cavallo seems unlimited and opens new vistas for the beholder. Subject matter is equally vast as Giuliano captures all he sees in his world. No image is too simple or complex. A browser's delight, The Cavallo Gallery is not a rushed experience. The size and content make for the art lover an extended visit and indeed a place of frequent return. Surprises abound in relationship to Cavallo's choice of subject and medium. He uses all tools in his grasp to capture his subject, and place before his admirers a contemplative work of beauty and thought. RE: Giuliano Cavallo's Princess Diana inspired "Beautiful Soul" Published by Pop Art Books London press uk.

The Princes Diana piece is yet another example of the artist's amazing ability to capture essence with color, line, and placement (Abstract Diffusion) . The dark background brings the central image to the forefront of the piece, in an illuminating manner. Much like the darker sides which swirled around the Princess highlighter her to the world. Strong lines define sharp character and at the same time suggest an elegance and vulnerability. Cavallo's use of color particularly for me brings "Beautiful Soul" into complete harmony. Adding depth, details, and emotional strength to the piece. Bravo, a brilliant testament to a brilliant person! Len Rogers

Giclee Fine Art– Prints

Giclee is a form of fine art printing which is superior to any previous form of inkjet printing. Giclee is a French word that means a spray of liquid, which possibly derived from the word "gicleur" meaning "nozzle" or "to squirt." All artwork is printed from high-resolution digital copies on several different museum quality media options. This method of art reproduction is perfect for those seeking a quick turnaround on their art prints but not sacrificing the level of detail and quality.

Unlike the traditional printing method of lithography, which only uses four colors – cyan, magenta, yellow and black, giclee prints typically consist of six colors – light cyan, cyan, light magenta, magenta, yellow and black, offering the best quality. However, we use the additional two colors of light black and light light black. This printing method results in an extensive color gamut allowing the print an exact true color representation. The lithography style of printing consists of the use of tiny dots of the four colors that confuse the eye into seeing colors not actually on the print. Giclee actually sprays and mixes the ink on the page creating the actual color desired, creating true giclee fine art prints.
All of our giclee prints on canvas are created using long-lasting archival inks that have received permanence ratings that well exceed 100 years. In addition, our canvas prints are treated with a UV and water resistant coating that protects against fading and dust, ensuring your fine art canvas print will keep its original brilliance for generations.

Your artwork will be handled with as much care as possible and will be shipped to you well wrapped and protected.
